The thing is though, everyone has their own opinions on what's fine and what isn't. By stating WHY a thread is closed, it gives people that post in the thread, or read the thread some closure.

Mods don't need to apologize for closing a thread, I just feel it should just be common courtesy to at least state why it was closed. Kind've like ban reasons. Some people don't care, some people want to know why. *shrug*

Fair enough, rendo. Still, I can't recall one thread locked that wasn't breaking the rules or descending into a flame or trollfest. Everybody makes mistakes or can be a bit trigger-happy at times, so I'm sure there have been some closed that perhaps should have continued on. I just haven't saw evidence that it is a common occurrence that needs to be addressed.
