Yeah, there are theories this game is Canon. Takes place before Skyward Sword or after. Theory is that ghostly urple character might be a later Vaati! Minish Cap takes place after Skyward Sword and Vaati is the main antagonist.
Therefore the character here named watever, is somebody supposedly attach to those with power (aka That witch girl), so obviously she wont be the true antagonist, which many predict to be Ganon/Demise. So That creature follows them but after the events of this game (in theory) thats why Vaati goals are portrayed in the following game Minish Cap.
Also they both have 1 red eye, have similar body structures (vaati monster form). Cant remember everything but something along these lines :)
