Probably not. Even Wii 2 wouldn't have made an impact in sales.
Now if the hardware was more on the level of PS4/XB1 and Nintendo didn't focus it's entire pre-launch marketing campaign exclusively on the tablet controller that mainstream consumers thought was just an add-on to the Wii, then yeah the system would have sold much better.
