Unfortunately Nintendo have been on a downward spiral with gamers since the N64 used cartridges instead of CDs.
The Wii was a one off fluke that drew in the casuals but left a horrible taste in old Nintendo fans mouths. As soon as the Wii U was announced, I knew it was going to fail. The inferior specs, the attempted gimmick for the second generation in a row, the lack of a killer title at launch, the confusion in the name, the poor excuse for an online system...... It all adds up to a spectacular failure.
Don't get me wrong. I love Nintendo's games, I'll be buying a Wii U next week just for Mario Kart and Wind Waker HD, but with the rest of the problems the Wii U has, it's just not worth it to a lot of people considering the lack of 3rd party support due to the extremely under powered hardware.
Nintendo need a major re-branding if they are going to continue in the video game business.
