Then again, my TV also can't do 1080p, I don't have 7.1 sound, and I just can't tell enough of a difference between a BluRay movie and my upscaled movies on my PS3 to justify the price difference. Perfectly understandable since my TV can only go up to 1080i and is 40" (or maybe 42", I forget).

The size of the screen can be a prety big factor even with standard def. I remember watching my Jurassic Park DVD at my friend's house on their 30" and I was like, "Man, this is a really good looking DVD!" A few weeks later, we watched it at my house on our 52" and I was like, "Wow, this looks like crap compared to what I watched a few weeks ago." The key is the resolution stored on the disc. A DVD looks really good, especially upscaled on a smaller set, but the image looks bloated if you try to get it too big.
You can actually project a Blu-Ray onto a 100" screen or more without noticing any significant dip in quality. TV technology will get better too, which will make the difference even more extreme.
