Most developers do not work with linux, that is a FACT. 

I can program my OS to do ANYTHING I want. I go alt+ctrl+tab and then $work and every single pdf is opened where it was, my coding workspace is opened, my work music is opened, my work diary etc. etc. Anything I want. If I type $work2 then a different set of things is loaded. I can literally make my OS do anything and I can do it for free. 

Your peers just haven't been introduced to something better. Same as me until 4 years ago. Once you see that (for instance) Ubuntu does every single thing Windows does then you can't ignore the facts. 

What's better depends on a set of specific conditions for certain users ... For instance engineers value productivity above all else and windows fits the bill the best as it has the best software support for their tools.

There are obviously a few things, but they'll be added and are hardly important are they? And there are things that MS office also doesn't do - have a look. No two horses are the same, but these two are so similar that a layman can jump in and use one or the other.

They maybe similar in terms of features but Microsoft Office still has a clear advantage in productivity according to alot of people.

Literally the only issue is that if you've been working on MS office and send a file to someone on Libre office, then certain things in the document might be wrong. But this is 100% MS's fault as they choose to do so: For instance with their macros in excel. You can import your macros from Libre, but not vica versa.

Nobody is angry. They are just smarter. I run Ubuntu, Debian and Mint off the same workstation with a dynamic boot. Did you know I can open and run files from Linux that are installed on a Windows partition? Can you do that? No, not even close. Along with a million other things.

It's not to say that linux totally sucks but there are alot of reasons why windows remain superior such as having diverse and more supported software for everyone to use.
