If N64 had used CD format, it would have retained the strong support from NES/SNES era partners like Capcom, Konami, Square, Enix, etc. Meaning, that games like Resident Evil, Symphony of the Night, Metal Gear Solid, FFVII, etc., would have all likely come out on N64, NOT Playstation. Which would have likely meant that PS1's popularity would not have been anywhere near what it was. Which would have meant Nintendo, obviously, would have stayed "on top". But they didn't, so oh well.
