Retro aren't really in a position to make technical demands of Nintendo.

Then just what technical requirements did Nintendo have for their next generation console ? Their fetish for making energy efficient consoles get in the way of making mild contenders that consume over 100 watts. A 30 watt device doesn't seem really impressive to those developers and this makes things even worse as the WII U is using the older 40nm process node.

Basically, one that offered the same kind of leap over the Wii as the PS3 did over the PS2. (As long as it fit in a small case, used little power, was quiet, generated little heat, was backwards compatible, and wasn't going to RROD)
