Mario Kart 8 pushes Wii U to the limit?

Define "powerful" please ... If it's any platform with similar specs or more capable to the WII U then I guess an unthrottled tegra K1 would fit the bill but no one in their right minds would even consider an ultra mobile platform to be "powerful" for a start. If it's whatever retro studio says then they probably don't hold high technical standards in regards to feats of the platforms. 

They used to; their Metroid Prime games were of a very high technical standard for their platforms. (GC/Wii)

It's only their latest, Tropical Freeze, that's a graphical letdown for its platform. (Still a fantastic game though)
