Bummer. Yep, this is the man that ultimately inspired the look of Metroid, via his work with Dan O'Bannon on Alien. They met in a coffeeshop and Giger asked O'Bannon if he wanted to see what his dreams looked like. The rest is history.
I've saved a bit of his legacy myself in a song I call The Automatons that I wrote a few years ago and still perform tolday with my band.
RIP to a true original. I really hope he had better dreams late in his life.
