Its a very different scenario...
1. Kinect is a peripheral, Gamepad is a controller
2. XBO was launched at a profit so price cuts could be more easily afforded where Wii U launched at a loss
3. Wii U dropped 50$ in price and bundled a game where XBO dropped 100$ in price and didn't bundle a game
Neither are making the "right decision" because their is no "right decision"...however, it is far easier for Microsoft to drop the Kinect (and the price) than it would be for Nintendo to drop the Gamepad (and the price)...
