The point is that it ISN'T damaging what these people think in the first place. They're a rapidly decreasing and continuously marginalized group of hardcore zealots, who's opinions have no bearing on those of Nintendo's primary demographics anyway.
Trying to correct misunderstandings has time and time again proven to be a waste of time, money, and effort, as it only leads to more ridicule (i.e. "Please Understand") and does very little in regard to communicating what their original intention was to the actual intended audience.
