Not sure I get where you are going. The X1 does both. It does streaming from your PC and it does App streaming. It allows you to connect your Cable to your cosole for one seamless streaming. IF MS every get off their butts about the Miracast(Wi-Fi Direct) then you would be able to stream content from any device that support Miracast to your X1 without any additional hardware. I am looking forward to this feature as I would be able to share my Windows 8.1 desktop through my X1. This would be a better solution to introduce a much better media center type of environement. I am thinking of creating a metro app that does exactly that. It would automatically load when you Miracast your desktop or laptop to the X1.
