We cannot go just by paid subs because by nature the consumer must have paid for the service weather or not they purchase a console.  Instead a true measurement of how people use their console is to measure how much time they actually play games or do other things like using media apps.  If people spend even 40% of their time doing something other than gaming on their game console then those other things become important enough to decide a purchase.

comparing time spent watching a movie or tv episode compared to time spent in a game is not really a ballanced way either, the average multiplayer gamer for example is likely to spend much longer in a game session than someone watching a movie, or tv episode.

And i would wager that streaming services are used a lot more for tv episodes than they are movies, which reduces the time spent watching media.

@Bolded:  I agree that I stream TV shows more than movies.  The thing is I have multiple TV shows I watch every day.  From Hulu, Netflix and Crunckyroll, I probably watch about 30 shows a week.  Watching all those shows can easily outstrip my gaming time even when I play MP.  I am more consistant watching those shows because i am more interested in what is happening then playing MP.  Also when there is a drought of new games and content to play, I still have those shows to entertain me.

I wonder if there how many shows other people track with their Apps that they watch daily.
