It certainly helps draw up the lines.
Nintendo's detractors are out there AND in here in this very thread, calling them stupid non-factoring losers,.
Their devotees are stating that they give no shits whatsoever about a stage show, as long as the games are there.
You just may be right in that the mere announcement of not doing a press conference is garnering them way more attention ahead of E3 in the gaming community than an announcement stating the opposite would have.
