I have a hard time believing the Wii-U is still sold at a loss. The hardware really shouldn't be so expensive. If true though the Wii-U might be  a bigger design/pricing fiasco then the ps3 when it first launched

Hardly; PS3 was losing an estimated $241-$307 per unit at launch.

Maybe not from a pure financial point of view, but marketing wise probably just as bad. Atleast the PS3 hade Blu-Ray that Sony wanted to push that partly made it so expensive.

How did Nintendo end up with such an outdated console that's apperently only $100 cheaper or even less to produce than a PS4. The Wii-U is basically a 360 with a slightly more powerfull but newer gpu and more memory, but that memory is slower and so is the cpu. And the screen in the controller can't be that expensive either.

It simply looks like way to shabby of a deal, that's why i can't imagine them really making a loss on it.

The controller is what's inflating the cost.
