The Xbox isn't known at all for being a super diverse multimedia system and I don't think it will ever be properly seen as one. They could've just concentrated on games for the Xbox and not much else while working on a new system as a whole. I don't think their ideas are bad, it's just that I don't get why they're trying to merge this with the Xbox. If you're not interested in gaming you'll be paying too much for the hardware and if you are interested in gaming you might find this whole television thing useless and you'll buy a cheaper PS4. I just don't really get it.. |
The only reason why Microsoft is in the gaming industry is because Sony was always planning to be the all around multimedia hub of the living room. Look at Windows has accomplished with multimedia. They don't like people taking over what they consider their territory even when they are on other mediums. They considered their growth during the PS1 era a threat to the PC market. MS didn't come into the industry primarily for the sake of gaming. They can pay others to make the games for them while the eat up living room marketshare.
