Yeah, I saw that. The depressing part is that people ran with the initially incorrect version of the article and didn't question the numbers.

Well, If you say something like "those numbers sound doubtful" about a game which is only available on one console you have to handle 50 guys who tell you that you are stupid and that it was out of the mouth of the developer. It's easier just to say that you are surprised by these numbers  without telling that it sounds unrealistic...
