I like how some people argue that because the N64 and GC "flopped" (I wouldn't call the N64 a flop btw... it sold almost as many units in NA as the SNES did, and outsold the Sega Genesis worldwide for example, which nobody considers to be a "flop") and because the Wii was such a runaway success, therefore Nintendo should only cater to families / casuals and Nintendo fans and not even bother with "core" gamers who generally ignore Nintendo.
Did any of you stop to think WHY those consoles "flopped"? *hint: it wasn't because Nintendo was trying too hard to appeal to the "core" gaming segment.
Sony and M$ at least try (and generally succeed) at appealing to non-"core" gamers with their multimedia features and stuff like Kinect, and do a far better job at advertising their products not only to their fanbases, but to everyone in general. I can't even tell you the last time I saw a Wii U related commercial on TV, but I've seen tons for both PS4 and XB1. And who do you think those commercials are designed to appeal to? "Core" gamers only, or just about anyone who has a passing interest in gaming and technology?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
