SA2 is not considered good by purists who hate 3D Sonic. I think those guys are elitist assholes.
If I can't pick SA2, this is my next choice

Heavily underrated and let down by its dumbed down sequels. I was hyped for Zero Gravity, but they basically made the game impossible to lose, it felt shorter than Ground Zerores and only 1/9th as fun as GZ.
Sonic Riders with gravity mechanics would've been cool though.
