Kid Icarus (1987 for NES) is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time. The game successfully combines elements of Nintendo's three biggest franchises -- Zelda, Mario, and Metroid -- in that lead character Pit can "jump like Mario, collect items like Link, and shoot enemies like Samus."

This game is HUGELY overrated. Anyone who hasn't played it but thinks it's great should download it from the VC. Still, that of course doesn't mean a new game can't be good.

I also believe the original game was nothing special, however, it is likely this new game won't even be mildly related to the original in gameplay.

Look at Nintendo development lately and know that the company has some of the best people in the world developing for them. You must know this new game has some serious potential, and the games "history" will have little influence besides nostalga, on this new title.

To let the original Kid Icarus' gameplay make you not consider the new installment a possible purchase, is pure folly. Think of this as a new IP for Nintendo, with the name Icarus, but the gameplay only an unknown Nintendo game can produce in the way of anticipation.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
