I don't get Nintendo hype for Smash.

How so?

Dunno, I guess I am into competitive fighters and not brawlers. Not saying there isnt any skill to it, but I just don't understand the hype.

Well let's put it this way.

Do we have many fighters on Wii U?

There's only Tekken Tag Tournament from launch and Injustice from last year.

Plus hardcore or not, Smash is the best selling fighting franchise.

So it has the appeal.

It has appeal because it has an extremely low barrier for entry. DOA has a pretty low barrier for entry and even it requires more skill. Hate to break it to you but the top true fighting games past the 90's aren't played by many people. In the fighting realm what sells the most doesn't essentially speak the most about a game. Super Smash isn't like actual fighters so its never really mattered. Again, as long as Nintendo sells well its perfectly fine. The game serves its purpose and Nintendo is great at making different genres of party games.
