I think it has its moments of genius, but I felt only about half of the main 15 or so levels were good; the rest were barren, the controls were a bit dodgy and the camera was poor. It was a good tech demo for games like Banjo Kazooie though.

Really? To be honest, that's the only 3D Mario game that I enjoy (which is about as easy to rip me apart for since that include Mario Galaxy and everybody else seems to love it). 

lol Yeah actually I loved Super Mario Galaxy myself :P

I don't know, I just didn't like SM64's levels in general. Although I did think they got better as the game went on.
