I found it very monotonous and simplistic. Did you like turn off the TV during cutscenes or mute the parts when they talk during gameplay. Maybe read some of the collectibles or do the optional talks with ellie?
I mean, if you just went from Point A to Point B with complete disregard for the story/characters or exploration, then I can see why you would dislike it.
