I'm going to answer this by counting every single 3rd party release on the Wii U and Vita in North America in Q1 2014. Based on various websites I can gather info from.

Wii U: 4 Retail Games, 6 eShop exclusives + 7 Virtual Console Games

Vita: 8 Retail Games (Including the two halves of FFX HD together), 12 digital-only

So to me, America's release calendar so far in 2014 has definately been more Vita-friendly. If it werem't for the Virtual Console, the Wii U would be outperformed 2 to 1.

I expect the Wii U to have a brighter 3rd party future than the Vita, but based on this 3 month slice, the Vita is way ahead.
