And going "maybe you shouldn't be on the internet, you're way too sensitive" is pretty much the equivalent of saying to the rape victim "maybe you shouldn't be walking through that area at night, you're too easy to rape", and letting the rapist off without criticism. Obviously, the rape analogy is an extreme version, and there's no equivalence between rape and mockery, but it's the easiest way to demonstrate the absurdity of the attitude - by taking it to its logical extreme. |
Really?? How is it any different that telling people to play SF2 on max difficulty, getting a perfect in every round, and beating Bison in less than 2 minutes in order to unlock Sheng Long? People wanted Sheng Long, just like people now may want Frostbite games on WiiU, but neither are actually possible. SF players were "made fun of for a laugh" for actually believing it, since it wasn't possible, but it's known as one of the best gaming April Fools' jokes ever. Turn around and joke (lamely, I add) about how something that isn't possible for the WiiU and all of a sudden, it's about respect and people being mocked? Yea....you are sensitive. And no, you're not comparable to a rape victim in any logical comparison (extreme or not). A rape victim has something done to them, against their will, and some people will victim blame (you shouldn't have walked around dressed like that, for example). But what was done to you against your will in which someone calling you sensitive is victim blaming? Nobody forced a WiiU on you, then laughed at you when certain games don't come to it and said "maybe you shouldn't have gotten a WiiU".
And don't say my analogy with the SF prank isnt applicable since it wasn't a developer that made the joke. EGM was still a business that's held to a standard and had costumers, same as EA.
