I think it addresses the root of Nintendo's problem in the market place though and why the Wii U won't bounce back, not even a badazzz Zelda (whatever that means) + Mario Kart will do it.
Nintendo prefers to sit around to wait to coast off one genius idea, but they simply don't like to put in the work otherwise. They are like a very naturally gifted athlete that doesn't really like to put in the work. Sony's approach on the other hand is they don't have the same natural talent, but they make up for it by simply working harder most of the time than the other guys.
It's also why I think the whole concept of "we're just going to snooze until Mario Kart comes out" is such a toxic philosohy. Nintendo really needs to lose this line of reasoning because it isn't appealing to consumers. They buy a console to play games on now, not to sit around and wait for a company to get their act together. This strategy didn't work for the N64, it didn't work for the GameCube, it only worked for the Wii for a few years because of a genius stroke (I'll agree with you there), it isn't working for the Wii U.
The "please buy our console for this one killer game, and then please wait 4-5 months for the next one ... if you're lucky" is not appealling, Nintendo fans excuse it because they love Nintendo games so much, but that doesn't fly with the broad market. I'm sorry, it's a competetive market out there, you can't pull this type of thing anymore and think you can have any large degree of success.
