Ninty didnt think WIi U would be selling as bad for so long, so they needed SOMETHING for the holidays. ANd its easier just to take a game you already made engine and all and customize the hell out of it. Instead of having a brand new game from the ground up, at the very least it would not have been ready by holidays.

I do not believe it was time pressure that produced 3D World, but rather just Nintendo making what they wanted to make instead of what the audience wanted.
