There's nothing wrong with Mario 3D World.
It has everything a new Mario should
- The full gamut of Mario levels everyone wants ... plains, tropical, winter/ice, lava, Bowser castles, ghost houses, space/galaxy themed. Unlike Sunshine which had Mario stuck on a tropical island.
- Great soundtrack with plenty of orchestral and violin and flute tracks.
- Nice graphics.
- Terrific powerups. Unlike Sunshine.
- Great level design.
- Lots of nostalgic throwback (references to SMB, SMB2 USA, SMB3, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy)
- Finally good multiplayer as well.
- Good challenge ... yes the post-game content will make even Mario vets sweat.
The only Mario staple that 3D World doesn't have is Yoshi.
If Nintendo had called it Super Mario U instead of Mario 3D World, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it, it's a shame there's a small group of people who still can't get over the initial E3 trailer, which was a very poor representation of the game, even after the game was given unanimously great reviews from the gaming press (many of whom are jaded towards Nintendo).
