Are the nintendo classic games so well rated, because we had lower standards back in the day?

Sort of. If Ocarina of Time released today, it wouldn't have a 99 on Metacritic. As an example, that basically means Twilight Princess is better than Ocarina of Time to critics, since it got a 96 on Metacritic with higher standards for games and more reviews.

Still, that doesn't keep their classic games from being great.

Difference is if OoT released today it wouldn't have been as original. On the other hand, today's gaming landscape wouldn't be the same without Ocarina. What it would look like without Nintendo at large I can't even begin to imagine.
