Steam games = x86
Wii U = PowerPC

And even if it were easy to port... Valve doesn't own over 99 percent of the games on the Steam platform, they can't just port them to the Wii U.

The rights to do such ports are with the developers (if self-published) or publishers, which could make Wii U ports on their own, if they wanted it.

Please read more than the thread title before posting in the thread.

Just because I didn't quote everything doesn't mean that I didn't read it.

Nintendo could make as much deals with Valve as they want... it is not in the hands of Nintendo or Valve to make 99% of the Steam games (which are x86-programs, no matter if they run on Windows, Linux, Mac or SteamOS) PowerPC-compatible, it's in the hands of the developers/publishers of these games... every single game would have to be ported on its own.

And what incentives would they have to get another middleman (Valve) in the game, to make their games WiiU-compatible? If they want to port them to Wii U, they can do it without Valve, which want their cut, too.

Or you add x86-hardware-expansions to the Wii U. How would that work? How much would have to be replaced, how much of the original hardware could be used for "Steam mode"? How would that expansion work? The Wii U has no external ports fast enough to deliver enough bandwith for an external solution. Shall Wii U buyers screw the console open and replace the MCM themselves?

Or is this "solution" only for a new Wii U model, so the early adopters, which suppported Nintendo the most, are screwed?
