Yes, but there is not going to be a Steam Machine but rather a whole bunch of them. The ones we've already seen blow the Wii U out of the water spec wise, so I don't know why we shouldn't expect Valve's own version to do the same.

Plus the different architectures would still make cross compatibility impossible anyway. The only way this could happen is if Nintendo announces a new system that is x86 based. Unless you mean something like the "buy Portal 2 on PS3, get it on PC free" deal.

Also, Gabe may like a 20 year old Nintendo game but I find it extremely difficult to believe that Valve, who have a famous hate-on for Microsoft's closed online, would be eager to jump in bed with Nintendo's their backwards and closed online.
