What would happen if PlayStation branched off from Sony?

Although, Playstation + SCE is profitable, it has some significant investments that Sony bank rolls with it more profitable ventures. Like Life Insurance. PS would definetly not be able to manufacturer a console much less all its fancy gadgets like move or morpheus, especially when its Sony whose developing that tech not PS. Whoever buys them could do it, but they would probably outsource it or just downsize PS.

Best case scenario, it wouldn't look like PlayStation but rather a series of games sold under that brand.

Worst Case it dissolves entirely.

Wouldn't neccesarily have to be sold off. The TV division is branching off into a seperate entity without being sold yet.

I meant it couldn't just be seperated by the division itself. The TV division is mutual.
