The real question ought to be, what will Microsoft do? Currently, they are in 3rd place. Sad thing is, the Xbox One is getting many of the multiplats that the Wii U isn't, yet the Xbox One doesn't appear to be catching up to the Wii U any time soon.

Seriously? One will past Wii U sales by this time next year. One is consistently outselling U on a weekly basis, hasn't been on the market as long as U, way more expensive, better marketing, 3rd party support, less territories launched; One has far more demand than Wii U overall.

Except you're ignoring Japan. Counting the US and the UK is fine and dandy, but ignoring Japan where the Xbox hardly has any presence is a bit shortsighted. For the Xbox One to outsell the Wii U by this time next year, either the Wii U has to sell zero units from now until then, or the Xbox One would need to sell twice as many Wii Us per month (which isn't really happening right now).
