Games are always about difficulty for me, not just Nintendo. The more challenging the better, even if it's the same stuff over and over again that I can improve more and more; that's actually gaming to me, just remember how arcades work(ed).
Yoshi's New Island is probably "bad" because it was a difficult game on the SNES, it wasn't easy to 100% it. Nintendo is going the easy route with lots of their games nowadays which upsets some people, and I'll be honest I don't play them as much because of their low difficulty.
And as stated before, yeah, different tastes :) so I won't say a game sucks because it's easy, just that I don't put it on my favourites list.
