I don't think it's difficulty because really, a lot of Nintendo games aren't that difficult. For me, it's just that things often aren't spoon fed to me. With a lot of Nintendo games I play it goes like this:
-These are the mechanics.
-These are your tools.
-This is the problem
-Solve it.
Figuring out how to open a door in a Zelda game is often times more satisfying than killing a giant rabbit ogre or killing 100 enemies in other games because I tend to feel like I earned it. It wasn't just given to me via QTE or cutscene. Of course I like my cinematic games too but dat Nintendo--Sometimes there's just nothing else like it outside of the indie scene.
