I don't think it is the difficulty because which level do you remember when you think about a game you played? If the game was a brilliant experience you will remember the beginning of the game. I am still enjoying walking through the first level of SM3DW or DKC Tropical Freeze because it feels just great. It is the atmosphere and gameplay which just makes fun while there are good graphics and a enjoyable sound. I don't want to say that the difficulty is not important but I think it isn't that what makes Nintendo's games so great.
