Actually; I think the PS2 was the most expensive console, I remember some pretty sweet deals on X-box and Gamecube here and they both cost significantly less all the time from launch till their death.
Also; The Wii is not the cheapest any more, the 360 now costs less in most of the world outside of NA, at least the cheaper versions which, let's face it, are mostly the same only with a smaller HDD.
The Wii launch price was very low for its time, but the deal looks less than sweet as it stands now with the 360 costing less and the PS3 not too much more.
I think Nintendo may have to cut the price once this year to keep the deal good enough, it'll look silly costing more than its speced out HD rivals imo.
199$ and the game is on again this fall...
