People can criticise Sony for paying something to indies (probably Royalty Advances)... but hold on a minute, they wouldn't be rushing to Sony if MS hadn't had done such a shoddy job of their indie stuff to begin with. In fact if you were an indie MS didn't even care, they weren't interested. As many indies rightly said at the time.
Now if i was an indie and I compared the two, I would naturally be going towards Sony, its selling more consoles and has had the better attitude. If sony were also saying we will give you some cash to release on our platform first... then guess what I would do.
MS are finally picking up the dropped ball, but there will still be some lingering issues with it, and some indies will still decide to move across to PS4 rather than XBO. I'm sure it will get better as MS build their reputation with the indie community.
Somehow I don't equate being give £20k or something the same as paying tens of millions of £'s (or more) for a AAA game. There are tons of indie games out there that MS could pick up for nothing, AAA games are a different kettle of fish.
