  • Report it when another user insults you instead of insulting them back. If they report you and no one reported their post, guess which one of you gets banned? The moderators do not have time to read every post in a thread, so they will often miss things that are not reported.

If an old post of mine gets reported in which I used the word, would it slide or would I get banned?  And when I say old post, I mean it's at least several months old if not a year or more.

If you thought you made a bad judge or attacked someone in a post you know you could always edit it now? I mean... I definately am not suggesting people insult a user then edit it later and hope to avoid moderator because that would be cowardly and I'm rather sure not work since it appears the post you report gets sent to a mod along with your reason for reporting it.

But yeah, would say if you're worried about having come off as an asshole before go and edit that post, never know when someone might be readin through old threads or one gets necro'd and people think you're a bit of a jerk from reading a year old comment you made.

It's so old I don't even know how to find it.  The only thing I can really remember about the post was I called VGKing a fanboy hahaha.  That probably should give you some kind of inkling on how old it is.

Retroactive bans based on posts from a year, or more, back would be ridiculous, I can't see how that could ever be implemented. Any mod could go on a spree and look through the posting history of any member with some past issues and almost constantly kick them away, I don't think this is an issue at all.

More OT: every single one of these threads has one or more users coming in to baselessly complain about mods (not saying mods never do anything worthy of critique but more often that not, the ones who shout the loudest are the ones who had it coming) or their own moderations, often ending up with yet another moderation...
