So hypothetically, if the Taliban had directly planned the attacks and Taliban forces hijacked the planes and flew them into the towers, it still wouldn't have been justified? 

Maybe it would of been a just war but only if it could be proven. The problem with the Taliban is they are not a typical enemy, it's not a country you are fighting. It's a international network of fundamentalists you are fighting, this makes it very hard to find the enemy yet alone fight them

OK.  Now, if the Taliban didn't directly plan or execute the attack, but gave "aid and comfort"(as the saying goes) to those who did, knowing that they were guilty and yet sheltering them from the just wrath of the U.S.A., would it still have been just to go after the Taliban?  (Leaving aside the question of whether it would be "worth it".)
