Working at a retailer myself, Yes, my store did hold the last shipment for SSBB launch, but they didn't stockpile anything for month for it. and our shipment is pretty normal like every other shipment.
Frankly, I don't even believe Nintendo would go as far as stockpile Wiis for a game launch. For Holiday? Maybe, but sooner Wii goes to the consumer's hand, more games they will buy.
And yes, I personally bet around 200K Wii hardware, so I got pwned there too.
P.S. I hated when people bet 3 million weekly, and if I remember correctly, a Mod did that as well. ;)
