Virtual reality just means (for vision) that the screen is a millimeter away from you. 2D games will be just fine, VR will just change nothing to the way it's play now. Which is good.
Edit : BTW occulus rift is no VR. Occulus rift is SHS (Sight and hearing simulator). This being VR would mean reality is just experienced trough hearing and sight.
