I'm convinced it still wouldn't get decent third party support because third party titles wouldn't sell that well. There would be a great deal of Nintendo fans who have higher standards with regards to quality software purchases.
Just compare ANY first party title on a Nintendo platform to any third party title on any other platform. There's a huge difference in the amount of polish and the amount of bugs.
A good few third parties just can't face the competition. You would never get Nintendo releasing a game in the states that Sim City or Battlefield 4 were in.
