| Shadow1980 said: They would be getting the third-party games they needed, so yes. In fact, they could have done like MS did with the 360 and get third parties to make next-gen-specific games that would be effectively be timed exclusives for Nintendo (and if they never got ported to the PS4 or XBO they'd be totally exclusive). The 360 ended up getting games like COD2, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Saint's Row, Rainbow Six: Vegas in its first year on the market. Some were ported to the PS3, others were not. Point being is that it got a lot of games that mattered, especially third-party games. Had Nintendo's eight-gen system followed the same path, it would be doing much better (with one caveat, though: I'm also assuming that Nintendo is actually properly marketing the system and that it's being sold for a reasonable price). But the Wii U as it actually exists just doesn't have an audience outside of those who are dedicated Nintendo fans, and that's because the primary incentive for getting the system is to play the exclusives. It has no third-party games that can't also be bought on the PS3 or 360, and it won't be getting any third-party games made specifically for the PS4 and XBO. |
In what Universe would WiiU get support if it would be as powerful as the PS4? I would say the Gamecube felt like it was almost a generation ahead of the PS2 and guess what happened. The PSVita is also more powerful than the 3DS. And does not get 3DS games.
In theory you could get PS4 games on WiiU if the systems would have identical power but theory is not practice.
No Tomb Raider on WiiU but stoneage DeusExHR even tho WiiU is at least as powerful as PS360 (but then it comes to X1 and PS4 rofl)
No Mass Effect Trilogy but Mass Effect 3. (also rumored to come to PS4 and X1 rofl)
Its not like Nintendo somehow prevented EA or SquareEnix to offer better value to Nintendo customers.
If third party cant be bothered to bring last gen games to WiiU why would they bother bringing current gen games to it if it would be on par in terms of hardware?
Rockstar could have fixed the third party problem with a GTA5 for WiiU and additional Gamepad mechanics (dashboard/Radio/navigation controls etc) but they had no intention to do it.
Third party does NOT want to be on Nintendo systems unless it is 1000% guaranteed to be profitable. 75% chance like on Sony or MS systems is not enough when it comes to Nintendo.
Third party does exactly know what the problem is
it abandoned Nintendo systems
disappointed the customers and made them hesitate when it comes to third party because the Nintendo users got burned alot.
Also they strengthened the "we dont need third party mentality" by being absent so long and releasing alot of shit games compared to Nintendos almost perfectly constant stream of good games.
They are not able to regain trust and also seem to not even care because its just to much effort. They obviously cant go and tell the world "its our fault" so they act as if they try to make good games for Nintendo systems (like old ports etc) and then they have an excuse to say "see its not profitable".
I will guarantee you that if EA,Ubisoft and or Activision would found a new publishing company (noone knows that it is EA Ubisoft or Activison) and if they would release new GREAT games for WiiU then WiiU users will buy the games because they wont connect the new publisher to the feeling of disappointment or hesitation.
Do it like the US political system BE 1 SYSTEM and act as if you were two seperate ones. So if people dont like A they will support B. You will win either way.
Also I am pretty sure NOT being on PC would help alot. Alot of Nintendo gamers (including me) play their mainstream games on PC because the games there just cost 5 bucks after a year and dont suffer from FPS problems + they are just better and modable.
So why buy a console version that costs 5-10x the money?
