Does anyone still think Mario Kart 8/Smash Bros. 4/Price Cuts/etc. will save Wii U? <(o_O<)

Sure it will thanks to being on the market longer than DC.  DC was discontinued before it even had 2 years on the market in US & EU, due to losing too much money in a pricing war with PS2.

However:

• LTD sales: DC < Wii U < GC  (please correct if you have accurate figures)
• Support: Wii U < DC < GC  (my opinion)
• Wii U quickly abandoned by 3rd party like DC.  3rd party didn't really abandon GC.
• Wii U representation at retail is bad like DC.
