Even if you invested tens of millions in that product and only got back $6.8m for the 200k sales so far ? |
No way Tropical Freeze cost "tens of millions". The game was in development right after DKCR and the assembly line was fresh.

Not really, these conversations happen so many times that the reasons are readily available.

You were talking about releases. It doesnt matter if they were slightly gimped releases, late ports or anything else (just like the PS4 and One are getting). The releases were there (even from EA), it was just that the Wii U userbase didnt pick them up in reasonable numbers. Like I said earlier, the release schedule for Wii U was similar to, if not better than the early release schedules for PS4 and Xbox One. It might not have been the greatest of efforts, but 3rd parties actually tried. To pin the brunt of the blame on them, when Nintendo should shoulder just as much of it (if not more) is just refusing to see the incompetance shown by Nintendo. As the platform is Nintendo's own, they should have known about what support was/wasnt going to be there and gone all out to make sure they had something, anything set to release at those dates when 3rd parties couldnt release. That includes paying developers to port games to Wii U. This should be a big lesson to them when they release the next console. |
It DOES matter that the ports were late/gimped. It will directly effect sales of your product is inferior. That is a fact. No arguing will get around this. Why buy Mass Effect 3 on WiiU when you can get the entire trilogy for cheaper? Why buy Assassin's Creed on WiiU when you're not getting the performance upgrades of the PS4/Xbone versions and the DLC support of the PS3/360 versions?
There's zero incentive to buy WiiU versions of any multiplatform game.
Nintendo only fault is not adjusting to the longer development time of HD development. They simply cannot pay developers for ports. It's a strategy Nintendo long ago admitted to never persuing, it would bleed them dry. They're not Sony and Microsoft, they can't outspend them for timed exclusives.

It's obvious that he has no clue about Nintendo games at all. |
Didn't people bitch that Skyward sword was too different than regular Zelda?
