I honestly think the Wii U userbase is already burnt out on platformers. Look at what released before it - New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U and Super Mario 3D World. Not only are these games readily available on the platform, but NSMB and NSL are both being bundled with the console already.

I really wonder what the strategy was behind the scenes.  Back in 2011 what did they expect the first couple years of Wii U software to be.  Was it actually their plan to release NSMB2 a few months before NSMBU?  Was it their plan to have basically all their biggest games for the first year and a half to be platformers?  Then of course there are the droughts.  Just imagine if they had kept Pikmin 3 on the Wii and hadn't delayed DK.  I'd be surprised if Wind Waker HD was in their initial plans as well considering the short development time, but late release.

They had to be thinking third party was going to pick up the slack, and the picture would look a lot different today in terms of release schedule if they were getting at least a majority of PS360 multiplats still.

Would third parties not be gimping those games to prevent them from selling is another matter.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
