Nintendo - Pokemon fans - View Post

Heh, I think I'm the guy that KupoMogli was thinking about when he made this thread.

These are the JRPGs that I have completed:

  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA)
  • Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (DS)
  • Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS)
  • Paper Mario (N64)
  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GCN)
  • XenoBlade Chronicles (Wii)

Meanwhile, here are the Pokemon RPG games I have completed:

  • Pokemon Red (GB)
  • Pokemon Yellow (GB)
  • Pokemon Silver (GBC)
  • Pokemon Sapphire (GBA)
  • Pokemon Diamond (DS)
  • Pokemon Platinum (DS)
  • Pokemon Black (DS)
  • Pokemon Black 2 (DS)
  • Pokemon Y (3DS)

Yes, they've all been developed internally by Nintendo so yes, they're all on Nintendo systems. To be honest, the standard JRPG package has never been enticing to me. Even the most "JRPG" game on that list, XenoBlade Chronicles, was appealing and fun to me because of its more WRPG/Action Adventure elements of exploration and real time battle system. In fact, the game was great for me in spite of my annoyances with the over convoluted plot and characters that adhered to JRPG stereotypes. Story and characterization (major focuses of JRPGs) can be great elements in gaming, no doubt, but they've never been a selling point for me.
