Are we including January and February, or are we starting with March, in order to account for the PS4's Japanese launch in a few days? I'm fine either way.

Doesn't make a difference but for clarification it's all 12 months of 2014. If any of those favor 3DS you win.

You should exclude december  from your prediction, nintendo consoles always sell much better at christmas, that will be the only month of 3DS domination
